Essential IT Support
I am rather annoyed with myself tonight as I write this article. Why? Well I am loathed to say that I have made a rather novice and stupid mistake at work. I am the owner and managing director of a small accountancy company and over the last few months I have been implementing a number of cost cutting measures. This I believe is an essential element of any business as we all struggle to continue and battle in these some what tough economic times. I have however made a mistake in one of the specialist support services which I decided to part company with namely my IT support London.
In my defence we have had no major problems with our computer systems for many weeks now and I therefore cancelled this contract without too many worries. This decision has certainly come back to bite me on the bum as it were. This week has been some what of a nightmare as my staff have been unable to read or send any e-mails and it seems like our whole computer system and network has had problems.
Now you would think that I could just contact my previous computer support London specialist however this was not something that I wanted to do – call it male pride if you like. The issues started on Monday and they are still ongoing today on Friday. Yes five days or turmoil and it is all down to me.
I have, of course, tried to get other specialists involved two of which have been into our offices but who in the end were unable to fix the problems – I still had to pay each of them a rather hefty call out charge however.
Prior to leaving the office today I decided to bit the bullet and to eat humble pie by contacting my previous IT support company. They were fortunately very supportive and are due to come into the office on Monday – I have confirmed that I would like to re-appoint them to look after our computer systems.
